San Cristóbal de las Casas

The pueblo of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas is one of the 34 pueblos magicos in Mexico. It was given this title because of its incredible natural beauty and culture. Most visitors to San Cristóbal de las Casas arrive via the new highway from Tuxtla Guttierez, Chiapas. The drive is one of the most incredible in the world. In 45 minutes you rise almost 1000 meters into the clouds. The temperature changes from tropical to temperate. The jungle gives way to a beautiful cloud forest, and you can watch the world fall way below you.

When the clouds part, you will find yourself entering a valley surrounded on all sides by green mountains. In the middle you will find the jewel of Chiapas, San Cristóbal de las Casas. From the entrance you can see the two small hills of the city, with the Inglesias of San Cristóbal and the Iglesia of Guadalupe. The air is cool and refreshing no matter what season you visit it.
